Putting the Pro in Final Cut Pro

Walter Murch and his crew just finished up the finishing edits on Miramax’s Cold Mountain in time for a Christmas Day release. What is unusual about this is that Murch and his crew edited the entire $90 million epic on four PowerMac G4s and four PowerBook G4s in Romania using Final Cut Pro — the first major studio effort to use FCP (aside from Steven Soderbergh and the Coen brothers’ latest medium-budget flicks). Articles and interviews on Apple’s Pro website, POST magazine, and millimeter magazine discuss the experience in detail.
