French Week at IdleWords
Maciej Ceglowski is in the middle of “French Week” over at IdleWords.com. Today’s entry discusses the discrepencies between French and American school lunches — an intriguing topic that deeply saddens me when I realize that I received the latter. Hopefully, the amount of actual “cowshit” in my lunches was minimal. Sigh.
As the U.S. nears war with Iraq, while blaming France for its lack of support in the U.N., Ceglowski, originally from Poland, brings up a number of interesting points regarding France’s history with war (a more accurate account than those being spouted in the U.S. media), and why they might be more apt to exhaust any and all diplomatic means to avoid a military conflict. I don’t know that their approach is necessarily better, or right for that matter, but Ceglowski does a good job of showing their perspective which is lost in the current U.S. news cycle.
