Space Shuttle Columbia destroyed in re-entry

Over eastern Texas this morning, NASA space shuttle Columbia flight STS-107 broke up in the atmosphere; all crew was lost. This is the first shuttle catastrophy since Space Shuttle Challenger exploded during take-off in January 1986; a launch that everybody my age remembers in detail. A nation, world, mourns today.
